Etymology of "Hematite" : Hema, having to do with blood. When oxidized, Hematite will turn reddish orange. In some tribes of old, Hematite would be ground and used as tribal warrior markings. Believed to give strength, protection, and to preserve the blood/ life essence of fallen warriors in battle. Having a silver sheen in most forms, it is known to bring prosperity (thus it can often be found in magnet form).
